What is Analytical Review?

There are two types of Analytical review built into the VAT filing card, namely:

  • Analytical Review (MoM)
  • Analytical Review (YoY)

Month on Month (MoM) Analytical Review

Analytical review provides users with a view of their current periods VAT return compared to the prior months VAT return, showing any variances/ differences, in anticipation of a SARS verification or review.

Current Period

The values for Current Period are pulled through from the Output VAT, Input VAT and Diesel Refund tabs populated.

Prior Period

The values for Current Period are pulled through from the Output VAT, Input VAT and Diesel Refund tabs populated in the previous periods tax filing card.

Variance Amount and Percentage

This is calculated as the difference between Current and Prior periods

Variance – Comment

You can add comments to explain any difference/ variances. Click on the + next to the related variance you would like to add a comment for:

Capture your comment in the pop-up and Click Save:

The comment will appear on the line it relates to:

The comment can be updated by clicking on the Comment icon next to the comment. The user, date and time of comment is also saved.

Year on Year (YoY) Analytical Review

Analytical review provides users with a view of their current periods VAT return compared to that period in the prior year VAT return, showing any variances/ differences, in anticipation of a SARS verification or review.
